Veggie Packed Pasta Sauce
Rated 5.0 stars by 91 users
Hayley Lucero (@realfoodwithaltitude) has done it again! This versatile pasta sauce is healthy, tastes great and can be ready and on the table in less than 30 minutes. Hayley's version uses organic ground turkey and veggie noodles to keep it Whole30, Paleo and Keto compliant.
But you can make it your own by swapping in your family's favorite ground meat, dialing the red pepper flakes up or down, and using your choice of pasta.

Ingredients
-
1 lb. Organic ground turkey*
1 jar of your favorite pasta sauce
1 Red bell pepper (diced)
1 Small red onion (diced)
1 oz. Baby Bella mushrooms (rinsed and sliced)
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 Tbsp. Garlic powder
1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
1/4 tsp. Red pepper flakes (optional or add more or less depending your preferred level of spiciness)
Salt & Pepper (to taste)
1 package of your choice of pasta
Directions
Heat a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the olive oil, red bell pepper, mushrooms, and red onion.
Sauté the veggies for about 5 minutes. Then add the ground meat.
While the meat is browning, add the garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Sauté for about 10 minutes or until the meat is cooked through.
When the meat is cooked through, add the pasta sauce. Let this simmer for another 5 minutes to heat the sauce.
While the sauce is warming, cook your pasta according to the package. This can be veggie noodles, gluten-free pasta, or any "noodles" of your choosing.
Combine the noodles with the veggie packed meat sauce. Serve and enjoy!
Recipe Note
* Or substitute in organic ground beef, organic ground pork or your favorite ground meat!
